Sup4Queer offers free legal and psychological assistance to Russian-speaking LGBTQ+ asylum seekers in the Netherlands, with a deep focus on those encountering challenges related to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Our Mission:

At Sup4Queer, we recognize the unique challenges LGBTQ+ refugees face: from trauma to depression and substance abuse and from the laws to rules of living and seeking asylum in a new country. Our mission is to deliver prompt psychological and legal (currently in development) support to address all these urgent needs.

We aim to provide emergency consultations, establishing a support line accessible to those in need. We recognize that urgency is a crucial factor in providing assistance. Therefore, we are working to be there in critical moments. You are not alone.

LGBT World Beside is a European non-profit organization that supports LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers who have arrived in the Netherlands and other European countries from Russia and other post-Soviet states. The organization holds ANBI status granted by the Netherlands.

The main goal of the organization is to provide support to LGBTQ+ and political refugees who have come to the Netherlands and other European countries from Russia and former Soviet republics.

The primary target group of LGBT World Beside includes political and LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugee status holders. The secondary target group include family members of those who have fled and LGBTQ+ individuals who continue to reside in these countries.

Key activities include receiving refugees from former Soviet republics to the Netherlands or other European countries.

In light of all the tragic events of 2023, the LGBT World Beside team

is taking responsibility and actively working on establishing a psychological support service for LGBTQ+ refugees.

Emergency Sessions:

We will provide several sessions with Russian-speaking psychologists for those in crisis. Our professionals ensure confidentiality, understanding, and high-quality assistance.

Volunteer Training:

Step by step, we train our volunteer team to work with vulnerable groups. We conducted a training session on transgender issues, emphasising gender-related challenges and inclusive language. In one of our recent sessions, we dedicated time to training on the complex topic of suicidality. Under the guidance of professionals in psychology and psychiatry, we focus on emergency assistance in critical situations.

Support Line (in development):

We are actively working on creating a support line where our volunteers, trained in active listening and managing anxiety, will provide assistance. This line will be an additional tool for those in need of our support.

How to Join Us:

We invite volunteers without professional backgrounds who are ready to learn, as well as psychologists and students of psychological faculty, to join our organisation. If you are ready to support those in need, fill out the form for non-professionals* or professionals.
